Profile and Education
Jim Mayfield is the President of Island Business & Commercial Brokerage (IBCB). He is the only Kauai broker to have achieved his International Business Broker Association (IBBA) certified business broker status after completing 60 course hours, eight course exams and one comprehensive examination. He is also a commercial real estate broker. IBCB is, according to Pacific Business News, the 8th most active commercial real estate brokerage in Hawaii. Lastly, he is a licensed mortgage solicitor allowing him to offer both commercial and residential mortgage loans to clients. His educational background includes a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Hawaii and a Bachelor’s of Arts (BA) from Dartmouth College.

Professional Experience
Jim’s professional background includes a 26 year banking career (20 years on Kauai), culminating as a Vice President and the Kauai Business Banking Manager for Bank of Hawaii. He is a six time Gold & Silver awardee of the Small Business Administration for approved loan production.

Interests and Community involvement

His current and past community positions include the Presidency of the Kauai United Way and the Rotary Club of Kauai, Treasurer of Lihue Lutheran Church, the Kauai Food Bank, the Kauai Board of Realtors and the Contractor’s Association of Kauai. He has been both a Director and the committee Chair of the Finance and Audit committee for the Kauai Island Utility Cooperative (KIUC) and the Chair of the Allocation committee of the Kauai United Way. Director positions have included the Wilcox Hospital Finance & Audit committee, the Hawaii Hotel Association of Kauai , Island School (currently held), and the Hawaii Visitor’s Bureau – Kauai Chapter. He is also a 100+ pint Blood Bank of Hawaii donor. Lastly, he was an Assistant District Governor-Kauai for Rotary District 5000.

He is most proud of his role as the Founding Member of the Kauai Island Utility Cooperative (KIUC) and was responsible for finding the 100% funding ($250 million+) required for the creation of this Cooperative and the founding of the Board of Directors.

His family includes his two daughters, 19 year old Kim and 17 year old Christy (and his dog Johnny-Boy). His avocations include investment analysis, ocean swimming, running, reading, gardening and traveling.
